ANY electromagnetic waves emitted from the sun and absorbed by something will raise the thing's temperature.Regarding our skin . . .  the electromagnetic waves emitted from the sun thatproduce a heating effect are known commonly as "heat", or in more technical jargon as "infrared radiation".
