A blood test shows that someone has a higher-than-normal WBC count. What does that indicate?

A high WBC count in the blood indicates that the person is suffering from a setting of an infection. It indicates that something is wrong, that something is affected, but it can't exactly pinpoint what. You need the help of lab tests, imaging etc.
